P.S.R .ENGINEERING COLLEGE, Sivakasi, An Autonomous institution affiliated to Anna university is one among the best educational institutions in south Tamil Nadu. Our college was established in the year 1999. PSR institutions has a unique chapter of excellence in education and research. The programs offered in PSREC are approved by AICTE and NAAC.
The department of biotechnology was established in the academic year 2002 - 2003. The existing biotechnology department is organized with well equipped laboratories. Our objective is to provide quality academic resources and conduct research in the interdisciplinary areas of Biotechnology. Major areas of our department includes Bio-chemical engineering, plant biotechnology, computational biotechnology.
Our department has initiated efforts to establish advanced research laboratories in all thrust apart from fundamental research. Our department aims to meet the targeted demands to cater the requirements of biotechnology based industries.

Technology as a output of the art of science, nurtured by engineering tools and techniques has played a stellar role in powering growth; shaping the culture and transforming the society. The world’s biotechnology crisis has alarming proportions and experts predict that it will worsen in the future. Thus, contemporary biotechnology involves making a useful product from the whole organism or parts of organisms, such as molecules, cells, tissues, and organs.
A recent development in biotechnology includes genetically modified plants, animals, cell therapies and nanotechnology. In earlier biotechnology, human has been manipulating living things for thousands of years. Nowadays, contemporary biotechnology involves various fields for various applications such as medicine, agriculture, forensics, bio-remediation, bio-control, and bio-security. The fundamental aim of conference is to meet human needs and demands in order to improve our quality of life. The impacts depend on many factors in the cosmos.
